DIY Lipstick

24 Sep

Hello All! This week we will be discussing how to create your own lipstick colors using crayons.  One day I was on YouTube trying to figure out what kind of “Do It Yourself” ideas would be helpful and affordable for young ladies like myself who love to stay on top of their beauty.  I came across a young woman who not only informed me of the many issues with lipsticks having lead in them but she also had a cool idea for alternatives.  Now one may think that your everyday crayon wouldn’t be used for anything but coloring or arts and crafts but how about a safe and healthy lipstick that pops.  Not only is it convenient but these lip colors are stylish and can go with almost anything.  When finding that perfect lipstick may be an issue this homemade recipe provides you with so many options.  There are only 4 key ingredients needed for a successful lipstick color so let’s get started on making your first one.

Combine:

1)      ½ teaspoon Castor Oil

2)      ½ teaspoon of 100% Shea Butter

3)      ½ of a crayon stick

*You may also like to add 2-3 drops of food grade essential oil for a scent.

Blend the flowing ingredients together over a medium lit fire until they have melted and pour into a small storage container or even an old lipstick tube.   Then let cool in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes.  You will now have colorful and smooth lipstick colors that work for the everyday you.  For more information visit http://beautyblogbymstoi.com/youtube/colorful-crayon-lipstick-tutorial

Work It Out!!!

16 Sep

Seeing that school has just began for many and it’s time to get back into the grove of things, I think it may be time to start thinking about what kind of physical activities many should take into consideration to stay healthy and stress free throughout the semester.  Many colleges offer Zumba, Yoga and even Hip-Hop Cardio classes throughout the semester to keep their students entertained and active.  Even if they don’t offer such classes workout facilities are usually always available on campuses and should be taken advantage of.  If working out in the gym or around others really isn’t your thing try activities that you can do at home or even try YouTube where they have plenty of tips and videos.  Staying in shape should always be simple, fun, free and convenient no matter what.  Below are 10 ways you can exercise at home without using equipment provide by fitwatch.com.  For more information follow the link.

EGG FACE!!!

10 Sep

Hello All! Welcome to Health-n-Beauty with yours truly.  This week we will be discussing homemade face masks.  Yes, going to the spa and experiencing the “oh so” lovely facials are nice but on a college students budget that may be out of the question.  So why not make them at home in your kitchen for a much more reasonable price and get the same outcome.  How about even making it a girl’s night experience and inviting friends over for a spa night with facials, manicures, and more.  Even if you don’t have the following household items borrowing from your fellow peers in the dorms I’m sure will not be a problem.  There are only 4 key ingredients needed for a successful mask so let’s get started.

Combine:

1)      One egg (using only the egg white)

2)      One tablespoon of honey

3)      A quarter teaspoon of flour

4)      A drop of any essential oil (to give a touch of fragrance)

Blend the flowing household ingredients in a small bowl and apply the homemade mask with either your hand or facial brush and allow it to sit on your face for 10 or 15 minutes.  Rinse with warm water and dry your face with a hand towel.   It will leave your face feeling smoother than ever and oil free.  Use as needed for those with oily faces try using weekly.
